Pioneer Elite VSX-LX305 and Pioneer VSX-935 support DTS:X. A technique used in DTS:X is similar to the one used in Dolby Atmos. Instead of a fixed number of channels, DTS:X defines object locations from the listener in polar coordinates. An a/v receiver then dynamically renders sound according to the current speaker configuration. The speaker layout employed by DTS:X is the sum of Dolby Atmos and Auro-3D. It has standard 7.1 channel base layer, a 5 channel height layer above the base layer on the front and side walls, and 3 rows of speakers on the ceiling. As for the connections, it is important to me as an audiophile that the VSX-935 AVR has a built-in phono stage. In terms of HDMI ports, everything is also very good. There are 6 inputs and 2 outputs ( eARC), and they support HDR10, Dolby Vision, and HLG, as well as 8K/60p (4:2:0), 4K/60p (4:4:4), and BT.2020 pass-through, so you can easily enjoy content from any source. The receiver also has 4K to 8K, 1080p to 8K/4K video conversion, and scaling capabilities to improve picture quality on older devices. IMAX Enhanced Content: IMAX Enhanced studio partners have announced IMAX Enhanced versions of movies that exclusively feature IMAX's signature picture, sound and scale. With this unique mid-range sound control feature, you can make independent volume adjustments to the range including dialogues in films, with the up/down key on the remote control. Sized at 17-1/8” W x 6-13/16 H x 14-9/16” D (21.2 lbs), the VSX-935 carries impressive connectivity for its class. DTS Virtual:X: Pioneer Elite VSX-LX305 supports DTS Virtual:X which bridges the gap between DTS:X codec and the reality of so many consumers' homes, allowing you to enjoy multi-dimensional sound regardless of room size, layout, or speaker configuration. If you have a limited speaker setup you will miss a full immersive potential of your entertainment system. DTS Virtual:X adds height and surround audio effect to your system without adding height speakers. It works with multiple configurations and delivers immersive sound experience out of 5.1 or even 2.1 speaker layouts. The VSX-935 is compatible with 5.2.2ch configuration of the latest cinema sound platforms, including Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. You can reproduce object-oriented sound in smooth, curving movements, or the realistic three-dimensional movement overhead by the top speakers. The remote control is functional, if a bit pedestrian, with the rubber buttons that will let you control most of the major functions of the unit without ever having to leave the couch. The Dialogue Enhancement is a unique mid-range sound control feature, allowing you to make independent volume adjustments to the range including dialogue in films, with the up/down key on the remote control.
